Jared here! I am not the writer that Laura is! But I do want to start writing down some things about our wonderful experience raising Mason. I want to write it to Mason, so we can tell him all about it later!
Mason, here are just a few things we love about you.
The way you get so excited and happy when the wind hits your face. Your face lights up so much and you crinkle your nose. Almost as if by feeling the greatness of the air hitting your skin, you were getting away with something you weren't supposed to!
The way it only took a short walk to see Lola in the other room last night to soothe you and you stopped crying immediately. Might you feel perhaps that Lola is the only one who understands your nocturnal behavior?
The way you fall asleep on my chest at night. I consider it the best part of my day!
The way you laugh at us when we make fools of ourselves to humor you. When your face lights up, it brightens the entire room.
The way you love outings. You seem to think that we are nice enough to go the grocery store simply to amuse you. You love looking around at new sights.
The way you seem to be drawn to music. You even smile and rock back and forth to some songs! We are certain that it's your way of dancing.
The way you always have to be holding something. You can be in the crib crying your eyes out as you fight falling to sleep, yet you will hold a toy in each and with a fierce grip as you lean on the crib rail to stand up.
The way you stop to show us a little love. You can be quickly crawling from one toy to another in your playroom, as if there is not enough time to get in all the playing you want to do -- yet you will crawl over us and laugh, as if you are intentionally taking that route accross the room just to say hi.
The way you nudge your head onto ours. Often when one of us is holding you, you will get excited and press your forehead into ours. It's a great feeling.
The way you have motivated me to be a better person! It's such a great honor to know that you will grow up calling me "Dad". It makes me want to improve, to make myself more worthy of that responsibility.
Anyway, sorry to get so serious! These are all true accounts though and I am so grateful! You also couldn't ask for a better Mommy.
Love, Dad
