Look who's walking!!

So Mason likes to hit big milestones on holidays.....

He smiled for the first time on Father's Day.

He said Mama for the first time on St. Patrick's Day.

And then yesterday on my birthday he started WALKING!! I had been saying for weeks that what I really wanted for my birthday was for Mason to start walking. As of yesterday morning he still seemed unsure and would take a few steps but then sit back down. Then last night at dinner, Mason was refusing to sit in his high chair. We kept taking turns taking him outside and discovered that the reason he didn't want to sit in the high chair was that he wanted to walk! He started with a few steps and then just took off! I will never forget the day that he started walking! Thank you Mason for the best birthday gift ever!
Here's our little man in action!

11 Months!

Mason turned 11 months on Easter! I can't believe in less than a month he will be ONE! It is sad to think that his days of being a baby are coming to an end but also so fun to think about the curious, adventurous and loving little boy he is becoming! Here is what Mason is up to this month!

He weighs around 20 1/2 pounds and is around 31 inches tall. I have the hardest time finding pants that fit him because he is so tall and skinny!

He is trying to talk and spends a good portion of his day babbling to me. The real words he has said are "dada" and "mama" and he knows what they mean! Just the other night he walked up to Jared and said Dada and then a few seconds later came to me and said Mama! It melts my heart!

He is a BIG eater! The little man is seriously like a garbage disposal! I can never feed him enough! He loves most things we give him- his new favorites this month are strawberries, grapes, chickpeas, and he finally loves chicken!

He is weaned from his bottle! He's still on formula for another month but now drinks it all through his sippy cup. I'm hoping this will make it easier when we switch over to milk!

He is so close to walking! This morning he took five or six steps on his own! He is still wobbly but walking seems to be just around the corner for him!

He LOVES to be outside. He is definitely all boy! The minute you open the door he will gasp with excitement and will stay outside as long as you will let him!

Happy 11 month birthday Mason!! We love you so much!

Springtime Fun!

We have been outside enjoying the beautiful weather all week! After a long and cold winter, Mason is so excited to spend some time outdoors! On Monday we went to the Dallas Arboretum to see the Dallas Blooms festival! The flowers were absolutely beautiful although Mason had much more interest in eating the grass and leaves!

Mason and his friend Avery. She was eating a snack of grass here:

Then she decided to share:

Yesterday I dressed Mason up in his Easter outfit hoping to get some good pictures. I even waited until I had the camera ready to give him his Easter basket, hoping that he would be smiling and excited and I would get some good shots. This didn't quite go as planned! Mason was so interested in checking out the eggs that he wouldn't stop what he was doing to look up at me at all! I definitely need his dad's help getting him to smile for pictures these days! I'm really looking forward to the age where he will pose and smile for at least a couple of pictures!

I get one picture where is smiling and I cut off his hand! Nice job!

His new "bear crawl". This just started a couple of days ago....I think he is trying to avoid touching the grass!

Today I hosted a baby Easter egg hunt for Mason's playgroup. It was hilarious watching the different reactions to the eggs and to being in the grass. Mason of course was way to interested in what was inside the eggs to notice the itchy grass. Again, notice that he is so busy he won't even look up at me!
