I'm super late posting these but wanted to get them up anyway. A few weeks before we went to Hawaii, I made a post on Clickin Moms, a photography forum I am on looking for someone to take some family photos of us on our trip. I knew it was a long shot so was shocked that I actually got a response from someone who lived there and was looking for people to take photos of for FREE to build her portfolio! I couldn't believe our luck on that one!
When I scheduled the photos, one thing I did not know is how frequently it rains on the north shore of Kauai. (where we were staying) It is never a constant rain, just quick little showers during the day that literally come out of no where. So the day of our photos I was happy to see blue skies! We get ready, I actually do my hair for the first time on the trip and we go to meet the photographer. We go out on this pier and then it happens. Literally the second we get to the spot and too far from our car to go back it starts POURING out of nowhere. The kids are freaking out, we are trying to keep smiling for the camera, I'm trying to keep my hair from becoming a frizzy mess. What a disaster! Needless to say, we did the best we could which wasn't so great. We did end up with some usable shots and I am so grateful to our sweet photographer for driving to meet us! She did amazing despite having to deal with rain and uncooperative children. Here are the shots we got...I had to include some that we took in the rain just to prove how bad it was! LOL This is just another reason we will have to go back to Kauai...to get more family photos!
One thing I realized when I started a photography business was that I was so busy taking photos of other people's kids, I didn't take as many of my own kids. Yes I would take them for little photo shoots here and there, but I stopped bringing my camera with me places and capturing candid moments with them.
I had heard of the 365 project last year and never got around to starting it so I made a goal to start it on January 1st this year! Basically, you take a picture every day for a year and post them all to a blog. I'm planning to turn them into a book at the end of the year to have a fun record of our day to day activities for an entire year! I have one week down now and I am hoping to keep it up as we go through the year.
Here is week one!
We had a great Christmas and loved having a white one for 2nd time in three years!
We spent Christmas Eve with my parents, then hosted Christmas with Jared's family at our house the next day! On the day after Christmas we spent the morning enjoying the snow and Mason got to go sledding for the first time!
