Fire Station Tour!

Today we went with Mason's playgroup for a tour of a local fire station! As most of you know, Mason's uncle is a firefighter and because of "Uncle Kaman (Kevin), Mason has developed a bit of an obsession with firefighters!

Mason woke up this morning and the first thing he asked was "I put the fire out today?" Hmm....not today little man.

All dressed and ready to go!

You are my sunshine

A few nights ago I left the room then came back to find Mason laying on the floor next to Connor singing "You are my Sunshine." Since then he has been singing to Connor pretty frequently and today I finally got him to do it on video! You can also see in the video the little comedian phase Mason is going through right now. It seems like he thinks his main purpose lately is to make us laugh. He's definitely got quite the little personality these days!

5 Months!

Connor Benjamin you are FIVE months old today! I can't believe that in one more month you will be halfway to ONE! I remember like it was yesterday being pregnant with you! Time is going waaayyyy too fast little man! We love you so much and every day I thank God for bringing you to our family! Here is what you are up to at five months!

IMG_4529

You weigh around 16 pounds and are wearing mostly 3-6 month clothes and just moved up to a size 3 diaper.

This was a big month for you! You started rolling over from tummy to back then back to tummy, you had your first taste of solid food, you went to the church nursery for the first time and you have sat up in a little tripod pose for a few seconds! I can't wait to see how you grow and change in the year to come!

Here you are trying to sit up! You are definitely still working on your balance but are so close!

IMG_4338

One of my favorite things about the past month is how much you have started to love your big brother. He makes you laugh more than any of the rest of us can and your face just lights up when you see him!

This morning we were taking some pictures of you and Mason had to join in too!
IMG_4506

You also took your first wagon ride with him! Ever since Mason got the wagon for his first birthday I pictured him riding in it with a sibling! Now we can finally do that!
IMG_4471

You are still teething like crazy. I never knew so much drool could come from such a tiny little man!

IMG_4498

When you aren't drooling, you are chewing on your fists. Yet another sign that a tooth is coming! Your big brother got his first one at 5 1/2 months so I am hoping we are really close!
IMG_4306

Sweet Connor you are still such a smily baby! You love to pose for the camera too!
IMG_4479

IMG_4466

IMG_4316

This month you have started developing a little separation anxiety and are most happy when you are being held by Mommy! Sometimes you cooperate though and will still enjoy sitting in your bumbo or your bumper jumper!

IMG_4452

IMG_4510

After sleeping great your first three months you are still now having a bit of a regression. You wake up a couple of times a night on most nights. I know this is just a phase and hopefully soon you will be back to sleeping through the night!

IMG_4329

This month I have had more people tell me that you are looking a lot like your big brother! Here is a comparison! I am definitely starting to see the similarities!

Connor's first food!

We got the approval to start solids with Connor at his 4 month appointment but after remembering how much of a struggle it was with Mason at that age I had intended to wait a little longer. But lately tiny man has been wanting to nurse all the time and seems to be eyeing our food a lot so I thought I would go ahead and give it a try! We chose to start with sweet potatoes and he did pretty well!

Here he is about to take the first bite!
IMG_4381

Hmmm really mom??
IMG_4384

I'm not quite sure what I thought about that....
IMG_4405

Actually I think I liked it!

Mason was very excited for Connor and had to help! He is so cute because when Connor does something new I will tell Mason, "Connor is a big boy now!" Mason always follows this up by asking "Is he walking yet?" I guess he associates being a big boy with walking. It will be so cute to see his reaction when Connor does start walking! This pic is a little blurry but you can see by Connor's face how excited he was to have Mason feeding him. (FYI we are trying to choose paint for our kitchen so please excuse the multi-colored walls!)
IMG_4397

After a while Connor lost interest and just wanted to play with the spoon. :-)
IMG_4409

Then he decided that his feet taste much better than sweet potatoes!

Mason's first time bowling!

Today Mason had his first experience bowling! One of the moms in our playgroup set up a game for us and the bowling alley even had little ball ramps for kids! Mason really seemed to enjoy it and even had the highest score in his group! Haha maybe we have a future pro on our hands?

Too bad for me, I didn't have quite the same good luck that Mason had today! When we first got there Mason was amazed by all the balls and since I had been telling him he would roll them down the lanes, that is exactly what he wanted to do! He didn't understand that you had to wait for the pins to come up first. So....Mason finds a bowling ball and runs out to the lane to drop it. I run after him (not wearing bowling shoes mind you) and run into the lane to try and get the ball before it is lost. I'm obviously not a bowler because I didn't know how SLIPPERY the lanes were without bowling shoes one! While trying to catch Mason's ball I totally slipped on the lane causing a loud thud and sending me down on the floor! I had a group of little boys next to us laughing at me but thankfully I was fine just totally embarrassed!

So here are some pictures from our day!

The circus, birthdays, and sleeping solutions!

Last Saturday was a busy day! First we had a third birthday party for Mason's friend Ava. It was at our neighborhood beach pool and Mason had tons of fun swimming. I caught this cute moment between the two of them:

IMG_4159

I had good intentions of getting a cute picture of the boys in their swimming gear but that didn't go so well!

IMG_4165

Later that afternoon we took Mason to the Circus! I knew he would enjoy the show but I worried that he would lose interest after a while. Surprisingly though, he sat in amazement for the entire 2 1/2 hours! During intermission kids could come down and get a clown nose put on. I didn't think Mason would be brave enough to go by himself but sure he enough he walked right down there without even asking for us! I don't think he quite knew what to think about his new nose!

IMG_4216

Connor has been spending more time in his exersaucer and is really starting to like it! It's so cute to watch because he gets a little startled every time the music comes on.

IMG_4266

IMG_4267

I think I mentioned in my last post about Mason's new independence when it comes to the pantry. I managed to sneak in an catch him in the act. That boy is determined!

IMG_4136

And finally, I think I have jinxed myself by saying how great of a sleeper Connor is. Over the last month or so he has been waking up earlier and earlier each night. The last few nights he has been up at least every two hours if not more. He seems to be teething so I am not sure if that is causing him to wake up or if it is a growth spurt or something else. I know that a lot of babies his age still need to eat during the night and I'm totally okay with him waking up once but this is wearing me down! It's hard taking care of a toddler when you have been up all night with a baby. He has never been a good napper but since he always slept okay a night, I didn't worry about the nap thing. Now though, I am trying to get him in more of a schedule to hopefully help with his naps and help him to sleep better at night.

IMG_4114

A friend recommended The Sleep Easy Solution book so I plan to head to Half Price Books this afternoon to find it. If anyone else has any book recommendations or sleeping tips I would love to hear them!

Connor talking and Mason at 27 months

This morning while looking through pictures I realized how bad I am at taking videos of the boys. I was bad about it with Mason and now I'm even worse with Connor! So I tried to get a clip of Connor making his little dinosaur sounds because I know that before I know it he will be talking and his cute baby noises will be a thing of the past!

And now for Mason- I can't believe that he is 27 months today! I always thought that after he turned two I would quit referring to his age in months and just say he was two. After all, I have to stop at some point and don't want to be calling him a 48 month old when he is four! 27 months is a little sad for me though because it's halfway to 2 1/2 and that is halfway to three!! Something about him turning three really upsets me. I feel like he officially won't be a baby anymore! I wanted to remember what Mason was like at this age so here is a little about Mason at 27 months!

IMG_4084

He is SO into all little boy stuff. He LOVES trucks, tractors, trains, dinosaurs and especially firemen. He spends a good part of his day running around the house with his fire hat on and pretend hose pretending to put fires out. He will ask us "Where's the fire at???" then go and spray whatever we tell him!

He always has been and still is such an active little guy and such a daredevil. I know that boys are adventurous and you have to let them be that way but my goodness I'm so worried he will have a broken arm by the time he is three. He jumps off everything, he climbs rock walls and ladders and the park no matter how high they are, he swings on bars....etc etc. Half monkey? I think so.

He has started to ask us questions and it is so cute! He doesn't quite know how to word them right so he will say things like "I can go outside Mommy??" or "You can show me where my snack is?"

He probably won't want this being shared in a few years but he LOVES musicals. It pretty much doesn't matter which one it is as long as there are people singing and dancing. He will jump up with his dancing stick (the handle of a broom) put on his hat and copy everything the people on the tv are doing. He also has tons of musical songs memorized and busts out in song frequently. :-)

He is such a loving little guy. Many days after I get ready in the morning he will say "You look nice Mommy!". He seriously melts my heart. He still loves to cuddle with us, loves hugs and kisses and always tells us "I wuv you!!"

He has started to pretend play. It's so cute to hear him in his playroom making different toys have conversations.

He has started saying please after almost every question and he knows that it makes him hard to resist! "Mommy I can stay up pllleeasee!!!"

He wants so bad to be independent and it is a frequent struggle between letting him do stuff on his own and forcing him to sometimes let me help! This morning he wanted a snack in the pantry. I was feeding Connor so I couldn't get up to help him. I finally get up and go in the kitchen to find him standing with one foot on the trash can and another foot on the first shelf.....he was reaching as high as he could to get a bag of chocolate chips! That boy! He also drags the stools from his little table all around the house with him to help him reach things he wants. He's a very resourceful little guy- sometimes too much for his own good!

We are loving this age and are definitely enjoying the constant entertainment that it provides!
