This boy loves to eat!

So Mason has taken up a new hobby- eating. He loves to eat pretty much anything and everything I give him. If he is crying or upset, he will calm down the minute I put him in his high chair because he knows food is coming..even if he's not hungry! I beginning to worry about how we will have enough food stocked when Mason is older! I feel like he is a bottomless pit now so I can't even imagine what it will be like when he is a teenager!

His favorite new food is cheerios. I got him a little cup that he keeps them in and I try to keep it in my diaper bag so we will have it when we are running errands. Well apparently that is not a good hiding place because lately Mason seems to find the cheerios very easily. Here he is with his beloved cheerios when we were not looking.

Another new favorite food is spaghetti...he tried it the other night for the first time and judging by the pictures...I think it was success! Of course by the time he was finished his entire face, hands and hair were covered in red sauce!

And of course, only 5 minutes after he finished his spaghetti feast, I he found he cheerios again and his hiding behind a chair eating them!

Oh the joys of raising a boy!

Fun with friends!

Mason had a fun week with lots of different friends! It's so cute to see him interact with other kids. Lately he really seems interested in older kids...I'm pretty sure he thinks he's not a baby!

First we went to Town Lake Park in Mckinney to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with his friend Presley. They had lots of fun chasing ducks and playing on the swings!

On Thursday we got together with Mason's friend Austin! I used to teach with Austin's mom and the boys were born 10 days apart! They were both SO active that it was next to impossible to get them to sit next to each other long enough to take a picture!

Yesterday we went to my brother in law's house and Mason had fun playing with his cousin Wesley. Wesley is the oldest of all the grandsons and up until now the other babies have been too young for him to play with. Mason really seems to like playing with Wesley now that he is older though! Yesterday Wesley even shared one of his very favorite dinosaur toys with Mason which is a big step for a two year old who takes his dinosaurs EVERYWHERE!

A day at the zoo!

Yesterday we took Mason to the Fort Worth Zoo for the first time! He loved being outside and seeing all the animals. In the aquarium exhibit, he was actually trying to catch the turtles from the other side of the glass! He spent most of the day riding on Daddy's shoulders and babbling away. Silly me forgot to put the battery back in our camera and didn't notice until we were already in Fort Worth, so we had to borrow a camera from my brother in law and didn't get as many pictures as we would have liked. But....we did get a few cute ones and at least have something to remember the day!

10 Months

I can hardly believe that Mason is 10 months old! For some reason 10 months just sounds soooo much older than 9 months! It is crazy to think that in only two months he will be a year old. Our little man is growing and learning more each day. He loves exploring and is into EVERYTHING! Here's what Mason has been up to this month!

He weighs around 20 pounds and judging by the length of his pants is getting taller each day! He is so tall and skinny and it seems like all pants are too big in the waist and too short!

He is wearing mostly 9 month clothes but can fit in a few 12 month things too.

He has discovered his voice more than ever this month. The only real word he says is "dada", but he babbles all day long. Last night Jared decided that Mason is learning to speak in German not English. That's definitely what it sounds like! The cute thing is is looks at us like he really thinks we understand just what he is saying.

He has 8 teeth! Judging by the pain he 's been in for the last couple of weeks I am pretty sure he also has a molar coming in but with 8 sharp teeth I am not going to stick my hand in there to find out!

He is constantly on the move. He loves loves loves to climb the stairs and can make it up in a matter of seconds! He is crawling everywhere and spends a good portion of his day racing through the house with his push walker.

He seems to have become a pickier eater this month. He's always had a big appetite but lately it seems that he's done eating after just a few bites. I'm guessing that's because he has way more exciting things to do that sit in his boring high chair!

He is so close to walking! He has been able to stand on his own for a few weeks now and earlier this week took two steps! I know walking is just around the corner and I am not sure if I am excited or terrified!

Happy 10 month birthday Mason!! We love you!

Family in town!

Hey Mason,

Dad again! Saturday we had family over! Carole, Scott, Jasper and Tyla came to visit. Nana, Granddad, Tim, Michelle, Wesley, Austin, Megan and Liev came too. Jeff and Andrew were at drill and Kevin had to work at Target. It was a beautiful day! You got to play with your cousins a lot! You all had a great time in the yard and in the playset. That was one of the first days since we bought our house that it was nice enough to play in the yard! I know that you all were having fun because when Scott told Jasper it was time to leave, he said "now?" as if he wasn't ready yet. It was also a sad day though because Tyla's dog passed away. Holly and Bill could not come because they already had their taxes scheduled for that day. You were sure worn out when everyone left! You took a long nap.

On Sunday we went to Church (First McKinney) and we left you in the nursery. It was the third time we've done that. We think you had fun, but when we got back you started crying the minute you saw your mommy! You must have missed her. At church they split up the guys and girls and talked about our different roles in our families. It made me think about how important it is that I am a good husband for your mommy and a good daddy for you! After church we went to Dallas (uptown) and ate at Chuey's Tex-Mex on the patio. It was a little bit cold but you sure liked the birds that were out there looking for food! You laughed when you saw them. One waitress stopped by just to meet you. She has a little boy a few months older than you and she said that seeing you made her want to go home to be with her son! You ate some Tex-Mex food with us and you sure seem to like it! Especially guacamole! After a long lunch, we walked around the stores and we bought a rug from Pottery Barn. We decided to take it back though because the colors don't work in our living room.

We sure love you buddy! It is so exciting you hang out with you every day and watch you grow.

Crazy little man!

Mason seems to be getting a bigger personality each day! His new favorite thing is to "talk" to us in a high pitched babble/scream/shrieking voice. He practiced this yesterday on every aisle of Hobby Lobby and drew quite a bit of attention though I am not sure if it was all good attention! His other new trick is waving! He seems to really be getting the hang of it and waves to anything he sees whether or not it will wave back. This includes but is not limited to Lola the cat, the people on TV, strangers at restaurants, his favorite toys and his highchair. We managed to get a video of him waving last night that I'm posting below. Just an fyi....I know it is freezing outside and I know Mason is not wearing clothes. This was his choice not ours! Lately, the minute I get his diaper off, he rolls over and takes off! We were lucky to even get a diaper on him for this video...there was no hope of getting pajamas on this rolly polly!

We had a good weekend with you buddy!

Mason-

Dad again! I sure enjoyed spending the last 2 1/2 days with you.

Yesterday we went to your cousin Liev's first birthday party at his other grandparents' house. It sure was fun! You wanted to open some presents but your birthday is still two and a half months away! We will have a birthday party then. You didn't cry though! You were really good. You had a great time with your cousins and other family.

You are starting to stand on your own! Yesterday you stood up for about 30 seconds and then sat down on your own. You are a really happy little guy. Often you will go a whole day without really crying. You always smile back at your mom and I when we smile at you. You are crawling all over the place! Last night your mom and I were talking and you disappeared! We found you in the downstairs bathroom! You had crawled in there even though it was dark. We think you might have been trying to find your playroom, which is the next room down. I helped you find the playroom afterwards.

Saturday night we took you to the play area at the Willow Bend Mall in Plano. Your mommy had already taken you a few days before. You really like that place! Everything is soft so even if you fall you don't get hurt. You made friends with a little boy who was a little older than you. You kept going up to him and grabbing his arm. After you did this several times, he ran up and gave you a bear hug. It scared you a little bit and you started to cry.

You sure want to start talking! You make these high-pitched shrieking sounds, especially when Lola is around! They are happy noises. You also say "da-da-da-da-da" quite a bit. I like to think that you are talking to me, but you also do it when I'm not around. Maybe you just miss your old man.
