Last Friday was Connor's birthday! I'll write a 2nd bday post for him soon but wanted to post some pictures from his fun day! I'm doing a joint birthday party this year since their birthdays are so close together and the same friends would be coming to both parties but we still wanted to do something special for his actual birthday! Jared took the day off and we went to the Perot Museum! It was fun for a while until we made Connor stop playing with some blocks in really liked. Let's just say we experienced his first terrible twos tantrum! LOL! Here are some photos from his special day!
I have tons of pictures to catch up on posting so just thought I would post them all at once! Here is what we have been up to over the last month or so!
I'm sooo behind on this blog. :-/ I've have so many pictures to post but just haven't had the time! I've wanted to write this post for a while and am finally getting around to it. Over the past few months, Mason has been telling us the most cute, hilarious things. I've started writing them down in my phone everytime he says them since I know it's something that I will love to go back and read. He told me today that I have to stop writing them in my phone or he will stop saying them. Hmmmm..... Well for now here are some of my favorite things Mason has said lately!
"Mommy all of the time I will protect you because monsters are pretty strong but I am stronger!" "Mommy I didn't give you a hug today so I need to do that right now!" " I don't just like Connor, I love him!" "All the time don't be scared if you are camping and see a coyote because all of the time super Mason will show up!" "Mommy if anything scary shows up just call me okay?" Me: "Mason you are so big, you need to stop growing." Mason: "I can't that's just how it works!" Flexing muscles "If your arms are shaking that means you're really strong!" "Connor is not any strong. So he can't get any bad guys but he can get pretend bad guys or toy bad guys!" "Connor's the goodest guy in my life" "If any kitties or dogs are stuck in a tree, I will climb up the tree and save the kitty or dog because that's just what I do." " I got to get the bad guys because that's my job to protect Connor." " Mommy do you want to go camping? Sometimes it's creepy but that's just how it is cause it's creepy when you're camping." "Mommy all the time you got to watch out for things that spray like skunks because you don't want to be stinky!" "Mommy I don't forget things because I think in my head really hard."
Love Love Love that sweet boy and wish I could freeze this age right now!!
I'm super late posting these but wanted to get them up anyway. A few weeks before we went to Hawaii, I made a post on Clickin Moms, a photography forum I am on looking for someone to take some family photos of us on our trip. I knew it was a long shot so was shocked that I actually got a response from someone who lived there and was looking for people to take photos of for FREE to build her portfolio! I couldn't believe our luck on that one!
When I scheduled the photos, one thing I did not know is how frequently it rains on the north shore of Kauai. (where we were staying) It is never a constant rain, just quick little showers during the day that literally come out of no where. So the day of our photos I was happy to see blue skies! We get ready, I actually do my hair for the first time on the trip and we go to meet the photographer. We go out on this pier and then it happens. Literally the second we get to the spot and too far from our car to go back it starts POURING out of nowhere. The kids are freaking out, we are trying to keep smiling for the camera, I'm trying to keep my hair from becoming a frizzy mess. What a disaster! Needless to say, we did the best we could which wasn't so great. We did end up with some usable shots and I am so grateful to our sweet photographer for driving to meet us! She did amazing despite having to deal with rain and uncooperative children. Here are the shots we got...I had to include some that we took in the rain just to prove how bad it was! LOL This is just another reason we will have to go back to Kauai...to get more family photos!
One thing I realized when I started a photography business was that I was so busy taking photos of other people's kids, I didn't take as many of my own kids. Yes I would take them for little photo shoots here and there, but I stopped bringing my camera with me places and capturing candid moments with them.
I had heard of the 365 project last year and never got around to starting it so I made a goal to start it on January 1st this year! Basically, you take a picture every day for a year and post them all to a blog. I'm planning to turn them into a book at the end of the year to have a fun record of our day to day activities for an entire year! I have one week down now and I am hoping to keep it up as we go through the year.
Here is week one!
